- Mt Charleston – Mt. Charleston is a great change of pace from the Las Vegas strip and is only 45 minutes away! So get away from the bright lights and the heat and visit the much cooler quieter scenic Mt. Charleston. There are several trails including the Mary Jane Falls trail featuring caves and a beautiful waterfall!
- 5 Ghost Towns – Nevada is home to several significant ghost towns that are well worth the visit. Rhyolite, Nelson, Belmont, and Gold Point all share similar gold rush boom and bust stories. These towns were once growing rapidly and thrived until the gold ran out and the citizens left. For the most part, these towns are completely empty except for a few residents that still live in some of them. Spend the night in a miners cabin in Gold Point or at the Bed and Breakfast in Belmont for a little more adventure!

- Iowa State Fair – This end-of-summer pilgrimage celebrates Iowa’s farm heritage within an increasingly cosmopolitan Des Moines. - Oz Museum – If you are a fan of the Wizard of Oz then you will love this museum which is home to the largest collection of authentic Oz memorabilia in the world.
- Cow Town!! – This is a truely unique museum where you experience the history rather than just look at artifacts and read descriptions. Live the story of Wichita’s transformation from a frontier settlement to a cattle town from 1865 to 1880. Old Cowtown Museum has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums which is the highest national recognition achievable by a museum. Only 3% of museums are accredited
- World’s Largest Easel – Goodland Kansas is home to the worlds largest easle which is 80 feet tall. On the easle is a 32×24 foot representation of Van Gogh’s “Three Sunflowers in a Vase”. - Biggest Ball of Twine – Cawker city is the current record holder for largest ball of twine built by a community. Come check out the still growing ball which is now over 41 feet in circumference!

If you are lucky you might alos spot a celebrity! Oh and did you know that Minnesota has no sales tax on clothing!!!

- Hannibal, Missouri – Mark Twain – Hannibal Missouri is the childhood home of Mark Twain. Visit Mark Twain’s house and learn about his childhood and the inspiration for many of his stories. Explore the Mark Twain cave system which also made several appearances in his books. Enjoy the Mississippi River and go on a riverboat cruise.

- Carlsbad Caverns – Carlsbad Caverns are beautiful above with ancient sea ledges, deep canyons, and flowering cactus. Below the surface is also beautiful with more than 120 caves. Come to take a self-guided or ranger-guided tour of some of the caves or learn about bats and watch thousands of them fly out of the caves as the sun sets. Because Carlsbad Caverns are so far from city lights it makes a great place to look at the night sky with telescopes made available by the park for free!
- Sandia Peak Tramway – Take a 2.7-mile ariel tram ride over deep canyons and beautiful terrain to Sandia Peak. The view from the top of the peak is especially breathtaking at sunset! If you are hungry have dinner at Sandiago’s Grill on the top of the peak.
- Hot Air Balloon Festival – If you are in New Mexica at the end of October make sure you stop by the Hot air Balloon Festival. Who doesn’t LOVE to see the sky filled with balloons!
- Mesa Verde – Take a look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made Mesa Verde their home from 600 – 1300 AD by visiting some of the over 5000 archeological sites including over 600 cliff dwelling!
